Does anyone have experience with the quarter and dollar coin - coin drops?

I'm looking at a new changer that dispenses both quarter and dollar coins. I have seen the set-o-matic mechanisms and thought it would be more convenient to deal with less coinage.

I'm still not sold on the card systems.

How many dollar coins do you see in circulation? People hate them and don't use them. I think I read recently that the government has stopped producing them for general circulation and is only supplying them to the casino industry.

Nobody used them in canada either, until the government stopped printing 1 dollar bills. A couple of years after that, they stopped printing 2 dollar bills, and gave us a 2 dollar coin, I guess the fives are next.
Of course in canada our government doesn't listen to the people ! (they don't have to, we don't have guns :-)

ESD has doul coin mech for a long time.I know a laundromat chain
use SBA coin and quarter in Chicago for a long time. They painted SBA coin blue.SBA coin is the same size as new gold dallor coin.
I don't like the system since I can not weight the coins, have to run through the coin counter.

Wouldn't you spend more time separating quarters and dollars when you empty machines. How about Dryers would they take dollar coins also?.

I have looked into this a little. Some Rowe changers, the double hoppers, can make them give say, $5 quarters, $5 dollar coin for a ten. Dexter has told me thye are working on a dual drop. IPSO has one, but at $175 ea not in the game. IPSO and dexter use the same coin drop. I had not seen the set-o-matic drop. I wil look into it. Part of my thinking was I was going to use tokens for the $1 payout. That way I could use a credit/debit card system at the coin changer. Still bulky, still looking.. 25k for cards will end up in a new boat first..
