That changer should have been a little more secure for what I assume was a 24 hour mat that is unattended at night.

The question I have is how did the thief get a key to the changer. The story describes it as a homemade key. That doesn't make any sense. If it is that easy to make a key to our changers, we're all in trouble.

The owner was stupid not to have a cage on the changer with more puck locks! Looks like he had tube lock, not a medeco, very easy and quick to pick if you know how. Very unsecured.

This is why our change machine is a rear loader. The rear of the machine is inside our locked office which is separately alarmed. When we are not in the store, the alarm is set. The wall was specially built and reinforced for the change machine too.
